The World Bank-led public procurement reforms mission, in collaboration with the Reform Secretariat in Jordan, concluded its four-day intensive and productive meetings. The mission, which took place from July 15-18, 2024, focused on strengthening government procurement reforms and addressing challenges faced by Project Management Units (PMUs) in implementing World Bank programs.

During the mission, meetings were held with the Government Tenders Department (GTD) and the Government Procurement Department (GPD) to discuss ways to enhance support for ongoing procurement reforms, as well as examining mechanisms to improve the efficiency of procurement processes to ensure smoother and more effective project delivery.

The mission also engaged in intensive discussions with PMUs to address procurement challenges and the support provided to relevant entities. The discussions centred on public procurement issues and specific problems hindering the seamless execution of projects.

The mission's agenda included meetings with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Small & Medium Enterprise Committee at the Institute of Public Administration, the Public Procurement Committee, the Procurement Policy Unit, and a meeting with the Procurement Complaint Committee.

This mission underscored the close collaboration between the World Bank and the Jordanian government, reinforcing Jordan's commitment to achieving sustainable progress in public procurement management and the efficient implementation of development projects. This ongoing cooperation reflects the shared desire to improve performance and achieve Jordan's developmental goals and priorities within the framework of the economic reform system.
