In collaboration with the World Bank, the Reform Secretariat at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation has successfully concluded the second Business Ready (B-Ready) workshop in Amman. Over three intensive days during the last week of June 2024, the technical teams from both entities, alongside 97 participants from 10 working groups representing 43 ministries and government agencies, finalized comprehensive business environment action plans developed during the first quarter workshop, and identified implementation strategies for outlined reforms.

Jordan, among 120 countries in the World Bank's B-Ready Report, continues to advance its regulatory framework, public services, and market efficiency. Led by the Reform Secretariat at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, efforts include modern economic considerations like digital adoption, environmental sustainability, and gender participation.

In the first quarter of 2024, to streamline efforts, the Ministerial Economic Development Committee approved the establishment of 10 governmental working groups to develop and implement national action plans aimed at improving Jordan's ranking in the B-Ready report. These plans cover key areas such as Business Entry, Utility Services, Labor, Financial Services, International Trade, Taxation, Dispute Resolution, Market Competition, and Business Insolvency.

With the conclusion of this workshop, Jordan is poised to implement these reforms, leveraging B-Ready insights to drive policy improvements and foster a thriving business ecosystem.

This workshop was supported by the Jordan Growth MDTF, co-chaired by The World Bank and The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (Jordan), with contributions from the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Canada, Norway, and Germany.
