The "Trade Facilitation Working Group" is the first among six working groups that the Reform Secretariat is seeking to establish as part of its efforts to establish collaborative frameworks through the Jordan Growth Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF), including: investment, government procurement, business environment and good regulatory practices, in addition to trade facilitation.
The "Trade Facilitation Working Group", co-chaired by the Reform Secretariat and the Jordan Customs Department, convened its first meeting in mid-October at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. Attended by representatives of relevant ministries and donors, the meeting aim to coordinating efforts and strengthening cooperation to reduce trade barriers, facilitating trade procedures, and making them more effective, flexible, and efficient. The meeting is an important step towards enhancing Jordan's trade environment and making it more integrated, paving the way for the Group's role in guiding development efforts and making them better able to enhance Jordan's trade competitiveness.
Discussions during the meeting covered various topics, with a primary focus on establishing the operational framework of the Group and cooperative strategies to enhance coordination, maximizing its impact. Emphasis was placed on the central role of the Group in promoting Jordan's competitive position in global trade, and the importance of concerted efforts and resource-sharing to fortify Jordan's economic growth through the implementation of the trade facilitation initiatives.
