The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Department of Antiquities, in coordination with the Reform Secretariat at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, held two consultation sessions with hotel sector representatives on July 17 and 21, 2025 to discuss a draft of updated national hotel classification standards. The goal is to raise service quality and promote investment in the tourism sector.
The draft includes over 400 standards, covering the integration of smart technologies and specific criteria for resort, beach, and city hotels. The standards are categorized by star rating and clearly distinguish between mandatory and optional requirements.
This new classification framework seeks to establish a unified and transparent system that aligns with international best practices, strengthens service quality, and enhances the global competitiveness of Jordan’s tourism sector. The reform is part of the Reform Matrix and supported by the Jordan Growth Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
