As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance Jordan’s agricultural and food traceability system, a delegation from Jordan, comprising representatives from the Reform Secretariat (RS), the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), and the consulting firm, visited Vietnam for five days late February 2025. The visit aimed to gain insights into Vietnam’s experience in developing and implementing food and agricultural traceability system, aligning with Jordan's commitment to improving the quality, safety and global competitiveness of its agricultural exports.
The delegation focused on learning from Vietnam’s advanced practices in tracking agricultural production, ensuring food safety, and meeting international market standards. With Vietnam’s traceability system recognized as a robust model of traceability, the delegation sought to understand how this system integrated the interconnected policies, legislation and organizations, in addition to the translation into a sustainable operation in a bigger scale traceability system .This visit is part of Jordan’s broader initiative to establish its National Traceability System for Agri-Food Products, supported by the Jordan Growth MDTF. By studying Vietnam’s approach, Jordan aims to refine its own traceability framework, a critical step toward enhancing food safety, expanding export opportunities, and improving the global marketability of Jordanian agricultural products.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to meet with key Vietnamese government agencies, industry associations, and private sector leaders, gaining critical insights into policy frameworks, regulatory practices, and technological innovations in traceability and food safety management. On-site visits to retail chains, farms, and food processing plants provided real-world exposure to traceability technology applications, demonstrating how these systems enhance supply chain transparency, disease control, and compliance with international standards. The delegation also discussed challenges and lessons learned from Vietnam's journey, which will be valuable as Jordan works toward implementing its own traceability system, ensuring that it complies with the required global standards in imported markets and enhances the global competitiveness of its agricultural exports.
This visit underscores Jordan’s proactive approach to adopting innovative solutions and international best practices, paving the way for a more transparent, efficient, and globally integrated agricultural sector.
