The Working Group on Good Regulatory Practices held its first technical-level meeting yesterday, 7 October 2025, at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MoPIC). The meeting aimed to enhance government coordination with international partners and donors, ensure alignment and avoid duplication in project implementation, and explore funding opportunities for initiatives supporting administrative reforms.
The meeting brought together more than 20 representatives from MoPIC, the Prime Ministry and international partners, including the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the Embassy of Norway, the SIGMA/Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Programme, the Economic Reform Activity funded by the U.S. Embassy in Amman, and the International Growth Center.
Participants were briefed on the Bylaw on Impact Assessment of Legislation and Policies, highlighting key milestones and achievements to date. Discussions also addressed current challenges, future priorities, and the upcoming plans of the Good Regulatory Unit at the Prime Ministry. Development partners shared insights on their ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework and advancing evidence-based policymaking.
This meeting comes as part of national efforts to promote evidence-based policymaking and legislation, and to strengthen coordination between government entities and international partners in support of Jordan’s administrative and institutional reform agenda.
The Reform Secretariat at MoPIC co-chairs the working group together with the Good Regulatory Unit at the Prime Ministry. This is the third of six thematic working groups that the Reform Secretariat is establishing with the support of the Jordan Growth MDTF, which is jointly administered by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the World Bank.
