During the first week of the year, we hosted a 2-day training on Social Impact: Assessing Impacts and Managing Risks, in collaboration with the World Bank through the Jordan Growth MDTF. Over 50 participants from various public sector entities joined us to enhance their skills in assessing social impacts, managing risks, and ensuring compliance in government projects.
The training aimed to promote transparency, accountability, and improved outcomes in public sector reforms, completing last year’s training on the World Bank's environmental and social frameworks.
Key topics covered included identifying risks, developing mitigation plans, and grievance redress mechanisms. Two insightful sessions were delivered: one by Dr. Zaid Attari from the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), who emphasized the importance of including persons with disabilities as a vulnerable group, and the other by Dr. Hadeel Al Maaitah from the Hashemite University, who shared insights on managing the social risks associated with the participation of women and girls.
As Ziad Asfour, Programs Manager at the Reform Secretariat, noted:
"This training is a crucial step in ensuring that reforms are sustainable and responsive to the evolving needs of society, equipping government institutions to effectively address social impacts."
